OUR MISSION

The McBain Rural Agricultural School Foundation has been organized to promote, assist and initiate special educational goals. The main focus of the Foundation’s efforts is to provide scholarships for McBain Rural Agricultural High School graduates who have the ability, desire, drive, energy and enthusiasm to pursue additional education. The McBain Rural Agricultural School Foundation Board is determined to work for the benefit of the district’s graduates.

The human element

The McBain Rural Agricultural School Foundation (MRASF) was initiated in July 1999. It is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that was initiated for the purpose of providing increased educational benefits to students while promoting the school’s academic program. For financial support the Foundation primarily depends upon the generosity of McBain Rural Agricultural School Alumni or those who have other McBain community connections. All funds donated to the foundation are invested and held in an account with Vanguard Group, Inc.

In the earlier years, the MRASF provided support mainly for the musical program and other classroom support for items such as the Phonic ear systems. The first scholarship was awarded in 2003. Several of the earlier scholarships through 2013 were multi-year scholarships. In 2014 it was decided that single first-year scholarships would be a better use of the Foundation funds. That practice continues today.

American Flag

The American Flag symbolizes the genuine love of country and a patriotic spirit that is not only alive, but is thriving and contagious. During an age of disrespect for patriotic values, the community and educational system holds the flag in high regard.

State of Michigan

The State of Michigan is representative of new life offered to European families during the mid 1800's The outstanding work ethic, close-knit family units and quality of workmanship brought to the McBain area by the determined immigrants is still reflected in the people.

Torch of Learning

The Torch of Learning serves as a banner for our schools success. Medical doctors, legal attorneys, engineers and a host of other successful employees represent McBain Rural Agricultural School graduates throughout the nation. The heartbeat of the community is firmly embedded in loyal and dogmatic belief in the value of education.

Open Book

The Open Book under the shield represents the foundation for personal learning and living skills. McBain's community has been able to preserve standards of personal character and old fashion values while many communities are experiencing a complete demolition of moral and ethical standards.
