Program Relevance

The trade certificate must be a program in a field classified as a skilled trade. Eligible programs may include (but are not limited to):

• • Construction Trades: Welding, Carpentry, Masonry, Electrical, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning).
  • Mechanical Trades: Automotive Technology, Diesel Mechanic, Machining, Industrial Maintenance.
  • Healthcare Trades: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Dental Assistant, Medical Technician, Phlebotomy.
  • Technology/IT Trades: Network Technician, IT Support Specialist, Cybersecurity Certifications.
  • Manufacturing Trades: CNC Operator, Robotics Technician, Quality Control Certifications.
  • Skilled Services: Plumbing, Pipefitting, Culinary Arts, Cosmetology, Barbering, Massage Therapy, Truck Driving CDL
  • The MRASF may approve other certificates -prior approval is recommended.

Accredited Institution

• An accredited technical school, community college, vocational training center, or government agency must offer the program.
• Industry-recognized credentialing programs (e.g., NCCER, ASE, OSHA, NATE) are also acceptable.

Career Path Viability

• The program must lead to a recognized trade certification or licensure that supports employment in the relevant industry.

Hands-On Component

• Programs may include practical, hands-on training, which includes an apprenticeship as part of the curriculum to ensure workforce readiness.
